Work At Home? Working AT ALL?

Are you on the right track?

There's a great lot of conversation around town about employment and unemployment.  Around the table at the Senior Center the guys are fussing about the growing number of business closures and the need for assistance rising proportionately.  The women in the grocery store gather in little groups to complain about skyrocketing food prices and how their fixed income is stretched. There is more traffic in and out of the Food Pantry and the social services office, too.   It's apparent that more people are earning less money for more hours of labor; folks seem to be afraid to look for employment elsewhere for fear of having no job at all.  

It's a lousy situation, especially considering that we really do get to design our own lives.  You may not have received that memo yet.  If not, I'm happy to deliver such great  news.

So.  If we get to design our lives, why would we see websites on vehicles that advertise the need for workers?  Why would there be job openings?  I don't get it.  

I went to the website of one of these "WE NEED YOU" ads displayed on the window of a vehicle and found it telling.  Seems that if you want to work with this particular company they won't allow you to use drugs.  Gee, what a downer.  That probably takes all the fun out of it for a certain segment of  job seekers.  Another thing I noticed is that their website was not especially user friendly and filling out an application was quite challenging and cumbersome.  You have to wonder whether this is intentional on the part of management.  SIDEBAR: Think Rod Blagojevich on Celebrity Apprentice.  END SIDEBAR.

We also might want to consider that there are couples out there who are discussing their situation in conversations that go something like this:  "I'm NOT leaving my family, no matter what.  If you take THAT job, I'm not going to live THERE!"  Changing jobs, moving, even finding work is stressful enough without the added tension of relationship struggles.

This is exactly why the work at home crowd is in the pink and operating in the black!  

Those of us who DARED to sign up for an online coaching program and had the chutzpah to actually launch websites or blogs and follow through on the instructions patiently given to us for making money online are not subject to corporate winds of change  and the worry of not having meaningful work to do.  Now THAT is living by design!

"Success Mindset: Do You Think Like an Entrepreneur or an Employee?

Are you going to work each day at a job that you hate while you are harboring secret dreams of becoming an online entrepreneur and being your own boss? There is a completely different mindset required for being a successful entrepreneur than is required to be an employee. Let's take a look at some of the differences and how you can begin to make that shift to a success mindset.

Here are some questions that you can ask yourself to gauge where you are and how your mind is working:

Are you internally motivated or externally motivated?

Do you rely on direction from your superiors or do you come up with your own ideas and innovate new, more effective or efficient ways of doing things? Employees seek approval or appreciation from others about their work, while entrepreneurs are content to labor on with their successful results being reward enough.

Entrepreneurs focus on creating wealth for themselves and others while employees tend to focus on doing a good job, getting excellent reviews and being promoted.

Do you focus on the positive?

Entrepreneurs look for opportunities even in times of challenge and adversity. Do you ask, "Why not?" or "Can we try that another way?" Do you believe in infinite possibilities, or do you simply accept what is?

Entrepreneurs are excited by new business opportunities while employees are often counting the days until their next vacation.

Do you possess discipline and commitment?

Discipline and commitment are important character traits to cultivate if you want to be a successful entrepreneur. You must have the discipline to stay on task and take inspired action towards your goals. You have to have commitment to hang in there when the going gets tough and everyone around you keeps telling you to give up and go get a real job.

Is your mind full of ideas?

Are you just brimming with new business ideas? Do you love to take an idea and make it become a tangible reality that generates revenue by fulfilling a need? Do you see opportunity where others only see disaster? An entrepreneur comes up with lots of small business ideas and she knows which ones to run with and how to get support when she needs it.

Are you teachable?
An entrepreneur knows the importance of working with a mentor who can help them to bypass some of the pitfalls that can befall any small business startup. Being teachable means that you are willing to learn from someone who's 'been there and done that' already and who can share wisdom, encouragement, resources and contacts to help you close the gap between where you are and where you want to be far more quickly than you could working on your own.

This is in no way meant to slam employees. Some people have absolutely no desire to run their own company, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Those people stopped reading this article a few paragraphs back. As my grandmother used to say, “It tales all kinds of people to make a world,” but if you possess that entrepreneurial spirit, eventually you will be unemployable. You will either take on the success mindset and create your dream business, or you will be miserable.

Focus your mind on success and get ready to create your own entrepreneur success story. Take action now to shape your mindset in preparation for your success.

Work At Home? Freelancing?

Here is a typical winter scene in Anytown, Anywhere. Notice the cars? They are near the homes because the homeowners at working at home!

Are YOU working at home? Do YOU have the freedom to design your day around the kids' school activities or home schooling? Or must you commute to and from your workplace, missing out on family time?

The ideal situation would be to commute from your bedroom to your home office, via the kitchen to pick up a coffee. Dress codes would be non issues. From your own home based business you can comfortably earn a living while overseeing your family's every need.

Do you know what it would take to become a successful work at home entrepreneur? Do you know how to discover what talents and skills you might already possess that could serve you well as a freelance income earner?

There are many programs out there in cyberspace. Everyone wants to make that dream of theirs come true so there are those who would prey on others by offering the moon and not delivering much in the way of information or help.

Visit any website and there are blinky-blinky banners vying for your attention about this work at home success story and that mom's-or dad's-success story...but the fact of the matter is that it is not a get rich quick endeavor.

Freelance work done at home does have the potential to create some quick cash, all right. But you must cultivate your career, hone your skills, practice your craft and court some clients. You must over deliver in terms of quality and content in order to get and maintain a client base.

People with websites and blogs need content. YOU can become an expert and create that content and those website owners will be charmed to pay you for your effort. Writing, creating quality content for other people, is a way to earn a good living. Freelance writers understand this and take full advantage of it.

Are you good with people? You might like to pursue an internet coaching program or help with customer service work. Freelance editing is in high demand, as well. Audio and video work can be freelanced, too. Even call centers can be managed from a home based business.

For YOU, there need be no more commuting in crummy weather!

Making Money Online: Key Words

In researching material for this post I came across a "making money online" blog that featured a video. That's not unusual, except that this video had nothing whatsoever to do with making money online.

What struck me about this was that this video and the accompanying post garnered 168 comments! WOW! That's a testament to Key Words and their power, particularly if you don't get all uppity and you relate to the people who come by your site.

The blogger in question is a family man, animal lover and seems to me to be a hard working marketer. He makes no claims to king size earnings with no effort; he assures you his strategies are not get-rich-quick plans.

There are a number of good recommendations on this guy's site. He points his visitors in the direction of various coaching programs and toots the horns of other successful marketers as shining examples of success.

This begs the question: What unique value do you offer to your blog visitors? How do you interact with them or do you interact at all? We are interested to know your story. You are welcome to leave your "resume" as a comment here.

Coaching Program: Every Day is Saturday?

Does your Inbox bulge every morning? Do you have so many incoming messages that your feel your eyes cross just by looking at the influx?

It can be overwhelming.

As 2010 arrived and everyone vowed to resolve this, that or the other thing I have remained steadfast in my determination to simplify, focus, and have fun.
It is not difficult for me to hit “DELETE” when I am greeted by an inbox full of messages promoting various projects.

Before I hit the button to dump another message, I noticed a headline that captured my attention:

“Warning: This Video May Offend You.”

I’m not easily offended. I am curious. So I clicked. What did I have to lose? I could watch a short video; no sweat.

Sam Crowley of Every Day is Saturday fame and fortune was the presenter. I’d heard of Sam, even though I have not met him yet. His video was simple, straightforward and uncluttered. He was casually attired and it seemed to me he spoke from his heart. His message resonated with me, for whatever reason.

I firmly believe that to succeed in Internet Marketing you are wise to be guided by someone who has experience and your best interest at heart. As a matter of fact, that’s one of the reasons this blog was created. It’s important for newbies to know what is available to them to maneuver their journey to success.

Even though Sam suspected I’d be offended, I was not. Those who may have mocked his enterprise as he began to climb the ladder of success may have found the message offensive but I was just favorably impressed. I was intrigued that his headline could capture my attention, his message could hold my interest, and I found it telling that Sam’s message resonated with me so deeply.

If you Google Sam Crowley, as I have, you’ll find he is no stranger to Internet Marketing. His story is greatly appealing. Sam has followed his passion and capitalized on it in very clever ways. Regular people can relate to what he has to offer.

I’m in no position to change horses; I’m in the middle of a stream. I’m thrilled with the coaching program that keeps my PayPal account looking healthy. But if you have not made a choice to follow a leader you admire, you would do well to take a look at what Sam is doing.

No one program is the end all and be all. If you find a coaching program that meets your needs, by all means, follow your heart and your passion and give it your all.

Sam Crowley’s program may just resonate with you.

Internet Marketing: You ARE an Affiliate! Part 6

Over the past few weeks we have covered various and sundry details about affiliate marketing as a work at home income for internet marketers. We've pretty much skimmed the surface and we highly recommend you work with a coaching program.

We do have more bad news: Remember when we announced the high rate of failure of most blogs? Well, sad to say, 95% of affiliate products fail, too!

Don't despair. It happens when affiliate marketers go into this unprepared. If you do not over think the process, do your due diligence and research properly this is far less likely to happen to you.

Ideally, you should have your own product to promote. If you are a total newbie, though, you might be more comfortable to begin by using affiliate site such as ClickBank.com or PayDotCom.com to begin. They make joining very easy and offer tutorials to help you through the initial process. As you grow your business you might like to work with ClickBankEngine.com .

Find affiliate products that complement your site. Do not promote products for weight loss on a pet grooming blog, as an example. People who opted in to your site do not expect recipes if you are showcasing and recommending woodworking tools.

Never, ever stoop to the level of hyping your products. Be honest. Remember, your own integrity is at stake. You don't want to trample your own reputation, after all. If you own the product and like it you can recommend it with no hesitation.

Use personal testimonies from real people. Here is a fine example from my own collection:
