Internet Marketing: Do Mastermind Groups Work?

Steve Jobs said, "Things don't have to change the world to be important."

It was fortuitous that I presented myself for a coaching program when and where I did because part of the program required me to participate in a Mastermind group. I was assigned to a collection of men and women from all over the world.

As you can imagine, the men dropped off first. Then one woman, and another...now we have a collection of internet marketers who have bonded and become fast friends. Only 3 of us have ever met face to face; the rest of our numbers are just friendly voices on the phone and email addresses!

Last night's Mastermind conference call was so phenomenal and so filled with information that it was decided to summarize it and send it to those who were absent. Life happens, you know-people go on vacation, have ailing relatives, get laid up themselves and we all can't be present for every call. We don't want to miss a single thing; we remind me of mothers who want their children home in time for supper!

Each member of this group is working in a different area. Some are bloggers, some have non-profit ventures. Some work on offline projects as well as online activities. Some of us are working full time jobs in addition to our online activities. Everyone is incredibly generous with their time, talents and resources. We share information if we find a Golden Gem somewhere. We cheer one anothers' accomplishments and mourn with others if they struggle.

Each of us has accountability partners, to whom we report our activities and progress. We are nudged to reach a little higher, think outside the box in different, better ways and we connect when an idea or question pops up for consideration.

Some online entrepreneurs may not need this kind of support. For me, it is life giving and nourishing the way nothing else is. Our little sisterhood may not change the world, but it has colored MY world and it is critically important to me in my internet marketing journey.

Mark Victor Hansen's Advice

If you can read and you have a home based business the chances are very good you are familiar with what Mark Victor Hansen has written in his Chicken Soup for the Soul series. If you were wise, you followed his good advice.

Of particular interest to me is something he wrote about expanding our imaginations. I suppose the reason it appealed to me is that I rather fancy FUN. If you know me well, you know that I will not be bothered to spend my time and energy on anything that is not full blown FUN.

Is it the little kid in me? Maybe. But Mark Victor Hansen advises us to remember the magic of our youth. Do you remember spending time daydreaming, lying on your back to study the patterns of the clouds? Do you recall running until you were breathless just for the joy of moving? Can you think back to times when you shrieked with pure delight and laughed until you hurt?

We have oodles of brain cells when we are born that just wait for us to give them direction. We are born rich, whether we acknowledge that or don't, and yet we get programmed by family, teachers, preachers, maybe even the conversations inside our own heads that we are this, that or the other and we suppose we are not good enough or not deserving enough...the list goes on and on.

Mark Victor Hansen advises us to "Predetermine the objectives you want to accomplish. Think big, act big and set out to accomplish big results."

We must focus on whatever we wish to have, be or do.

As internet marketers we must stop tagging after every scheme that comes down the pike, we must quit running from one coaching program to the next and signing up for every offer that comes into our inboxes. Find your niche. Do your due diligence. Be patient with yourself and the process. Celebrate your victories. Gather like minded people around you and form Mastermind Groups. And do remember to have fun with all of it.

Don't be attached to the outcome; follow your passion and learn as you go. Do be creative with your approach to your home based business and let your passion dictate the direction you take your internet marketing business. Solve other peoples' problems. Give them more than they expect. Nurture all your relationships. Cultivate creativity in every area of your life. An for goodness' sake, HAVE SOME FUN with your work!

All righty, then. I think I'll go jump on the trampoline now that the kids are back in school.

Money Making Opportunity Coming to a Home Near You?

Hill's book is a must-have for internet marketers!

Most people who immerse themselves in business, whether it's an internet marketing enterprise or a brick and mortar affair, have at least heard of Napoleon Hill and his book, "Think And Grow Rich." It's the book many of us cut our business teeth on and got us thinking about our possibilities.

Napoleon Hill introduced me to the idea of masterminding. The concept is a deceptively simple one. He and a handful of his cronies met for dinner every Saturday night and problem solved. Each contributed to the others' success. As chronicled in his book, Hill and all his mastermind friends became gigantic successes in the business world.

Another gigantic success, Jeff Wellman , put mastermind groups into place in his business, too. He was determined that his coaching students would be successful. He personally moderated these groups in the beginning. As his partners, Dixie Brown and Paul Counts came aboard his sailing ship, each of these groups has taken on a life of their own. They meet regularly and eagerly. Each participant is encouraged to share their projects to glean ideas and suggestions from their mastermind partners. These are not dinner meetings. You call them to you, allowing their energy to permeate the ethers, mix with your own, and you can "pick their brain" to help you solve your problems, just the way Napoleon and his friends did it around a dinner table.
